Born in Trelawny, Firelinks grew up in the Kingston 11 area, where he attended Tarrant Secondary School. His love for the music scene, provided the avenue to pursue his dreams of becoming a sound system selector. He got his start with the Little Gemini sound back in the late 1980s, then moved on to the Seaview Gardens-based Black Hawk sound system. Later on he hooked up with the Body Guard sound system, where his tenure lasted from 1993-1999.

Asked why he chose to become a sound system selector, Firelinks said, "At the time music was like my form of enjoyment. I decided that this was what I wanted to do as a profession."

These days, Firelinks is the top man behind the Fire Squad Patrol. Formed in 2001, the squad features a number of selectors including Al Pacino, Stereo, Buju and Fireface.

Known for his creativity on the turntables and his knack for keeping his fans entertained with more music and less talking, Firelinks boasted that his sound system has a better design, arrangement and sound, which sets him apart from the glut of sound systems currently on the scene.

As for his long-term goals, Firelinks said he hopes to have his own sound system headquarters as well as a record label.

At the launch of his sound system, Firelinks collaborated with the award-winning Stone Love Movements and Metro Media. Guest performances included Warrior King, the man with the chart topping Virtuous Woman, Frisco Kid and Capleton, among others.
